Most dishwashers use 4 gallons of water. Compare that to the average hand-washer who uses 54 gallons, and ends up with dishes that are less clean. Still, common assumption is that hand-washing is more earth friendly.

My concept is a stained glass water container that sits next to the sink and holds 4 gallon to use when washing dishes. It forces you to ration your water consumption to compete with dishwashers. After the tank is empty, it forces you to wait as it refills before you can continue, as negative feedback.
